Tomorrow I have a science test that I have to learn so I am going to post them on my blog
Core- The innermost layers of Earth, made of iron and nickel metal.
Mantle- The thick layer of the Earth. Divided into upper (asthenosphere) and lower; the upper is ductile and flows like taffy.
Lithosphere- The thin, brittle rock "shell" that is the outermost layer of the Earth broken into a collection of
(Crust) plates that flow on the mantle below.
Convergent Boundary- A plate boundary where two plates are moving toward each other.
Divergent Boundary- A plate boundary where two plates are moving away from each other.
Subduction Zone- A Convergent Boundary between an Oceanic Plate and a Continental plate, or two Oceanic Plates. The denser, heavier Oceanic Plate sinks below the lighter, less-dense continental plate.
Continental Collision- A convergent boundary where two plates of Continental crust move towards each other, causing the rock to be lifted up and folded into mountains.
Transform Boundary- A plate boundary where two plates are sliding past each other. Friction and release along these plates can cause frequent earthquakes.
Mid-ocean Ridge- A mountain-like land form that develops when plates separate and new oceanic crust (lithosphere) is formed.
Plate- A large, moving section of the Earth's lithosphere (crust). Heavier, denser plates are "oceanic" and light, less-dense plates are continental.
